Compeat Nutrition was created with a need to challenge the status quo of nutrition servicing by providing an online tool that enhances the value and capability of the Accredited Dietitian. They enable the Dietitian with an intuitive and beautifully designed platform that provides unrivalled agility and access to tools, knowledge and resources.
Why did you apply to the program?
We didn’t really know what an “accelerator” was before being accepted. We were invited to pitch after a last minute meeting with AusIndustry. Looking at the program details it all looked like it could be really helpful, as well as open us to an industry we knew very little about. Was kind of a why not moment. We haven’t looked back since.
What’s the biggest learning you’ll take away from the Slingshot program?
How to bootstrap a start-up, confirm a business model and nailing the process of the “pitch”. I think were now up to version 32 of our pitch deck. The content from a financials and capital raising context has also been great, but overall the networking and connections within the alumni and “ecosphere” have been invaluable.
What was your favourite aspect of the program?
Making contacts, meeting other founders and Just learning about the entire start-up ecosphere. We were very much oblivious to this world before we joined the accelerator. We just wanted to do something differently and headed off to solving a real problem in a different way. After the program it really allowed us to think bigger and apply principles to refine our model to scale and increase market penetration.
What’s next for your Startup?
Scale, Scale, Scale. Haha. We are looking to close a small capital round ( and yes its still open) as well as cement our first major partnership with a major Australian sporting code in the coming weeks. We then hope to continue to develop the next phase of our application and recruit some key resources.
