AgDraft is an online marketplace where farmers tender a job to a global network of agricultural jobseekers. The platform is providing an easy, low-cost way for farmers to connect with reliable seasonal and permanent labour. AgDraft builds trust and transparency in to online hiring through video profiles and a review and rating system. These features allow remote employers to hire with confidence and provides greater transparency for jobseekers.
Why did you apply to the program?
We applied to ICON with a specific aim to create a robust business model and gain insights on how to best scale our AgDraft platform. Running a business in rural NSW, The ICON Regional Accelerator provided an opportunity for us to connect with networks and expertise that we otherwise wouldn’t have access to.
What’s the biggest learning you’ll take away from the Slingshot program?
One of the biggest learnings Ill take away is that startup growth is about ‘progress not perfection’. This is obviously significant when scaling our product but also from a personal perspective. To not shy away from uncomfortable situations as they may be a great opportunity for growth.
What was your favourite aspect of the program?
Connecting with a bunch of great personalities doing inspiring things. Also, the weekly coaching sessions made us really accountable for our time and was a great way of focusing our energy.
What’s next for your Startup?
Global domination… Too much? We are determined to solve one of the biggest problems facing global agriculture today. With a revised business model, updated tech and some new key insights, our plan is to leverage our current traction and continue to expand our reach across the Australian agricultural sector. We are currently seeking capital investment to accelerate growth, increase traction in the horticultural sector and launch in New Zealand.
