Picnic Box is an aggregator of fresh, premium food showcasing the very best from Australian producers. Beautifully presented in eco-friendly packaging for corporate and social events or customers on the move.
Why did you apply to the program?
From the moment I attended the Roadshow in Auckland and met Richard and Beatrice, my gut feeling was it was meant to be. Caltex were looking for “out of the box”, things to make their customer’s life easier. They had launched The Foodary which was all about convenience and premium food. People are travelling to places they picnic and it doesn’t get much more convenient than someone packing a picnic for you.
What’s it been like working with Caltex?
Like all the other great businesses on the program working with Caltex has been life changing. The platform Slingshot has designed to bring big business and small business together is genius, it actually makes dreams come true. The Caltex engagement, support, communication, advice and connections are invaluable.
What’s the biggest learning you’ll take away from the Slingshot program?
There are so many learnings. I have learnt something from every mentoring session, every lesson and every person. The biggest learning has reinforced what I have always found to be fundamental, it’s all about people.
What was your favourite aspect of the program?
The absolute favourite aspects of the program was the people and pitching, also the most scary! Using Craig’s words I went from “sh!t” to “better than ok” and coming from Craig that was the highest compliment I could hear!
What’s next for your Startup?
We can’t wait to start packing picnics. Sydney first, then other cities. The opportunities with Caltex are exciting and endless; corporate catering, events, sponsorship, click & collect, customer loyalty initiatives and strategic partnership opportunities. We exist to make life easier.
