Aeroster – Qantas AVRO Accelerator 2017
By Chris Tippett, Founder of Aeroster

Aeroster helps airline crew view and share their rosters, so their loved ones know where they are and when they’ll be home.
Why did you apply to the program?
Starting out as a new business, I really liked the idea of joining an accelerator program for all the support and mentorship they provide. Aeroster is a product for pilots and cabin crew, so the opportunity to work with Qantas was obviously a really big deal — this made applying a no brainer.
What’s it been like working with the corporate?
Within the first week of the program I was introduced to the business unit at Qantas responsible for crew rostering. They provided insight into their operations, helped facilitate crew workshops and validated our thinking. Everyone’s been incredibly helpful and generous with their time, it’s been really collaborative experience.
What’s the biggest learning you’ll take away from the Slingshot program?
Starting a business is hard and it’s impossible for one person to do it all. Going into this venture as a solo founder, this was an important lesson to learn.
What was your favourite aspect of the program?
So much of the program was great. If I had to pick, I’d say it was the opportunity to work alongside the other businesses in the program. The cohort ranged from startups to scaleups and it was really insightful to hear everyone’s (candid) stories and get an insider’s view of their business over the 12-week program.
What’s next for your Startup?
Aeroster has only recently launched, so right now we’re focused on listening to our early adopters and making sure we’re building and continue to build a product that’s appreciated and loved by our users.
